Starting in mid-August, researchers from Hamburg will report every two weeks on their research on SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19, with scientists from the University of Hamburg and the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf also involved. Prof. Marylyn Addo from UKE will open the series on August 12, 2020 at 4 pm. The talks will be held as zoom conferences and are aimed at a specialist audience. However, they are open to all interested parties.

Since SARS-CoV-2 has been keeping the world on tenterhooks, researchers from a wide range of institutions and disciplines have been working on the virus, its spread and control as well as its health and economic consequences. In order to create a Hamburg-wide, cross-organizational and interdisciplinary exchange on the topic and to improve the exchange between scientists, the Hamburg Leibniz ScienceCampus InterACt and the Graduate School DASHH initiated the event series. The Universität Hamburg is involved in both institutions. Lecturers include researchers from the Technical University of Hamburg, the European XFEL or the Heinrich Pette Institute, Leibniz Institute for Experimental Virology and the Department of Chemistry at Universität Hamburg. Among other things, they deal with scientific questions arising from medical needs, such as the fight against viral diseases and the development of new antiviral agents. The lectures are held in English and last 45 minutes each. Afterwards there will be time for scientific exchange with the aim of developing new ideas for cooperation.
